Dion Ermen – Minstrel D
Dion a solo instrumentalist. a little different to many of our other soloists, Dion is all guitar, without any vocal support. His forte is surf instrumentals, and as Lead guitarist of the Shadowcastrs, Dion is readily known for his focus on the shadows instrumentals from the 60s & popular blues classics. Dion is perfect for all types of shows, & has performing for 28 years now. Dion started performing before he was a teenager at the age of 12, he won best instrumentalist in South Australia in the south Australian country music awards held in Barmera by 16. From here Dion went on to recieve a multitude of musical awards and accolades, has supported artists such as yothu yindi, Becky Cole, kasey chambers and many more. Dion is now in Adelaide bringing his music to the people on the street every sunny day with a street show whenever he’s not on the stage.

Albatross was originally recorded by Fleetwood Mac in 1968 and was their only UK No.1. It was later covered by Hank Marvin and the Shadows.It holds special significance for Dion and the Shadowcasters, as it was Dion’s mother’s favourite song. This is our version. It was recorded live at the Old Barn Sedan SA on 01 September 2019. The film clip itself is a visual diary of that day, and includes photos by Glenn Parsons, Rachel Elliott and Peter Kowald.Dion has very kindly allowed me to create a short foreword that explains why this song is so important to him.
